L2 activity 3: Basic parallel

Integrated · steep green / easy blue, moderate speed · medium skidded turns with the skis parallel from start to finish and a pole touch at each edge change. Switch to the mistake to see a wedge flash: the new outside ski pushed out at the start. Drag the large view to orbit.

What the examiner looks for

Passing · Skis parallel the whole time; edge angles match; no stepping or pushing a ski out; the body crosses over the skis in the transition.

Cue · “Touch, tip both, steer both.”

Key movement · Both ankles and knees tipping together while the pole swings forward for the touch. Watch the two edge numbers stay the same.

Lead-ups · Pole-touch rhythm runs; sideslip to parallel turn to sideslip.

Mistake · Carving it, or a wedge flash at the start: the new outside ski pushes out first and the edge angles don’t match.

Fix · A little slower, steer more; a pole touch timed with both skis flattening.

A simplified, illustrative model on the same turn model: the right way skids on lower edges with the skis parallel and a pole touch at the edge change; the mistake pushes the new outside ski out into a brief wedge at the start, then brings it back. Angles, loads and efforts follow the shape of real technique but are not measured data.
